Accounting Manager

Position Summary:

Supervise, monitor and evaluate all day-to-day accounting activities. Establish and maintain financial controls by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for general ledger management, account reconciliations, cash receipts processing, depreciation and accruals, investment accounting, restricted asset releases, a/r collections, and preliminary monthly accounting cycle closing.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting department.


  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Month and end year close process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, treasury, budgeting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits.
  • Provide recommendations.
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Meet financial accounting objectives.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Accomplishes accounting human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.
  • Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts; defining accounting policies and procedures.
  • Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  • Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
  • Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation; enforcing accounting regulations; recommending new procedures.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Develop and maintain financial record keeping and reporting systems.
  • Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly.
  • Prepare monthly closing general ledger entries.
  • Review reconciliations to ensure that they are prepared properly and follow-up on.
  • Oversee filing of tax forms including 1099s, IRS pension report.
  • Oversee, in conjunction with independent auditor, preparation of annual audit.
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts, and prepares related journal entries.
  • Supervise Staff Accountant, AP Staff and Payroll Accountant.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.
  • Responsible for supervising the accounting procedures of the company.
  • Audit the work of the accounting department.
  • Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting.
  • Responsible for the development of policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance.
  • Advise management on matters of fiscal procedure and importance for the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization.
  • Works with confidential data, which, if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect.

Education & Experience:

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA a plus but not required
  • 4+ years' experience as accounting manager for mid-size company

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven working experience as Accounting Manager
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to direct and supervise
  • Ability to multitask and effective in a high pace environment

Work Environment:

  • Works normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday most of the time.
  • Extends working hours into evenings and weekends during seasonal busy times.
  • Spends time in a climate controlled office setting looking a computer screens and keyboarding.
  • Attends budget meetings and other financial meetings on a regular basis.

Project Manager

PAVEMENT COATINGS CO. is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Project Manager for our Jurupa Valley office.

Position Summary:

Responsible for the coordination and completion of all aspect of projects including but not limited to:

  • Communicate directly with Government Agencies, customers, general contractors, sub-contractors and vendors for project issues.
  • Provide contract review, submittal submission, and attend meetings.
  • Set schedules, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of projects.
  • Prepare change orders, pay estimates, project closeout forms and work to ensure that the projects adhere to contract specifications.
  • Responsible for managing and leading a project team.


Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Be proficient in Excel, Word and Microsoft Project. Must possess strong leadership, supervisory and management abilities and excellent organizational and critical thinking skills. Ability to influence management and to commission and deploy resources and monitor effectiveness.

Education & Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or 10+ years of experience in construction management and supervision, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
